Building an Empire

CAA ICON was hired by the City of Ontario to build an arena that would put Ontario on the radar for future NBA and NHL expansion. Since opening in 2008, Toyota Arena is the biggest and most modern arena within the Inland Empire in California. The 225,000 sf venue features 36 luxury suites and a continuous concourse hosting a variety of concessions, merchandise kiosks, the San Manuel VIP Club, and other fan amenities.

California public procurement laws required the City to hold all subcontracts prompting CAA ICON to administer and close out 55 separate contracts. The Construction Manager served only in an agency role, so the City and CAA ICON took on an extensive risk management position and ultimately guided the project to an on-schedule and on-budget completion.

CAA ICON provided the following Project Management services for the project:

  • Plan and Organize
  • Program and Strategize
