Mr. Barrett was retained by the NHL (through Skadden Arps) as a sports valuation expert in the Arizona Coyotes (Coyotes) bankruptcy. Mr. Barrett and his team evaluated historical and legal precedent to determine the potential relocation fee to be incurred if the Coyotes relocated to Hamilton, Canada. The project required the valuation of the Coyotes in Glendale, as well as the valuation of the team in Hamilton, among other tasks. In addition, Mr. Barrett considered the issues surrounding a potential indemnification fee in connection with the relocation. Mr. Barrett was subsequently hired to provide a similar analysis based on a potential relocation scenario to Winnipeg, Canada.
