Hook 'em Horns

CAA ICON served as Developer’s Representative on behalf of Oak View Group, who, along with The University of Texas at Austin (UT), Live Nation, C3, and partner Matthew McConaughey, built a world-class arena on UT’s campus. The 10,000-seat arena is home to Texas Men’s and Women’s basketball and provides a state-of-the-art fan experience featuring 44 Suites, 3 premium clubs, 1 super VIP club, and 57 loge boxes. The venue is designed to expand to 15,000 seats for concerts and can easily be scaled down to smaller capacities for any size event.

Authentic to Austin

The venue is fully privately funded with no university equity or taxpayer dollars. This innovative agreement gives the university the opportunity to share in revenue without investing upfront in construction, while OVG will keep the majority of arena-related revenue outside of UT events.

The goal of the project was to keep the arena authentic to Austin. This can be seen through the partnership with local architecture firm, Gensler, and having C3 involved to maximize the event calendar and bring the best performances to the students and city of Austin.

McConaughey’s involvement emphasizes the desire to enhance the Longhorn brand. As a UT alum and Austin resident, McConaughey serves as the “minister of culture” and has been an advocate of the overall fan experience.
