Coolest Spot in the Desert
OVG and the H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation announced plans in September 2020 to build a state-of-the-art sports and entertainment arena in Palm Desert. As the home of the Coachella Valley Firebirds, an American Hockey League (AHL) franchise, the facility includes an adjacent training center and community gathering spaces. The project was completed during the last quarter of 2022, with the Firebirds beginning play during the 2022-23 season.
Economic Impact
In addition to project management services, CAA ICON was engaged to perform an economic and fiscal impact analysis. In this capacity, the economic and fiscal impacts associated with the construction and the ongoing operations of an arena and team in the region were evaluated. CAA ICON estimated the economic output, jobs created, labor income, and tax impacts generated as part of the study.
