Beth Penfield oversees more than 25 firms in her role as project director for the Tennessee Titans' $2.1 billion new Nissan Stadium, the biggest sports project (and role) in her 17-year career shepherding venue and public facility projects over the finish line.

Penfield has the crucial qualities of any effective sports venue project manager operating in an outcome-focused sector. She’s always looking ahead and she can move from discussing lighting to soil quality to diversity participation in a project in a matter of moments, then explain any of those topics to a non-expert just as quickly.

“A lot of what I do is you’re pivoting from topic to topic, so you have to have the ability to synthesize information quickly,” she said.

Penfield spent the first 15 years of her career with Brailsford & Dunlavey, managing and directing the planning, design and construction of multibillion-dollar urban public school district modernization programs in Washington, D.C., as well as higher education facilities and major sports venues throughout the U.S. Penfield joined CAA ICON in 2022, and her projects include renovations and new builds for the Charlotte Hornets, Calgary Flames and Titans.
