Hook 'em Horns
CAA ICON is serving as Developer’s Representative on behalf of Oak View Group, who, along with The University of Texas at Austin (UT), Live Nation, C3 and partner Matthew McConaughey, will build a world-class arena on UT’s campus. The 10,000-seat arena will be home to Texas Men’s and Women’s basketball and will provide a state-of-the-art fan experience featuring a new fan plaza and student seating surrounding the court. The venue will also hold concerts and and is designed to expand to 15,000 seats for touring concerts and shows. The collaboration will provide an exciting new home for UT basketball and will also bring first-class entertainment to the arena.
Authentic to Austin
The venue is fully privately funded with no university equity or taxpayer dollars. This innovative agreement gives the university the opportunity to share in revenue without investing upfront on construction, while OVG will keep the majority of arena-related revenue outside of UT events.
The goal of the project is to keep the arena authentic to Austin. This can be seen through the partnership with local architecture firm, Gensler and having C3 involved to maximize the event calendar and bring the best performances to the students and city of Austin. McConaughey’s involvement, as well, emphasizes the desire to enhance the Longhorn brand. As a UT alum and Austin resident, McConaughey will serve as “minister of culture” and has been an advocate of the overall fan experience.
