“Mass excavation” began Monday on Colorado State University’s new stadium.
Scrapers, backhoes and trucks began the process of moving 65,000 cubic yards of earth from the stadium site. With a production goal of 2,000 yards of earth per day, an estimated 33 working days will be needed for 20 trucks to take 4,600 truckloads to the Larimer County Landfill.
“It’s what you call mass excavation — so it’s getting the bulk of the dirt out,” said Mike Harms, senior vice president for ICON Venue Group, the project manager. “Everything seems to be going fine. It’s pretty well-structured.”
